If your body could talk, would you listen? Of course, you would. But would you know what to do? When something in your body feels "off" and is showing related symptoms, don't panic, but don't ignore them.
There are headaches, and then, there are HEADACHES! Your body is definitely trying to send you a message if you are beginning to experience more and even lengthier periods of painful headaches and related symptoms. Now, don't overreact by misdiagnosing yourself online with everything but the plague, but absolutely do connect with your doctor as these could be signs of something far worse than a traditional run-of-the-mill headache.
Too Much Pain, Not Enough Gain
If you're exercising, working out, hitting the weights, or anything in-between, some pain is naturally to be expected. However, if you're feeling unusual or centralized pain that lingers after your workout is over, you may actually be experiencing damage or injury. Inappropriately working out through pain that should clearly be addressed is not good. Listen to your body. Don't move one step forward just to fall two steps back.
Tired Beyond Tired
Here's a tricky one, you're tired. Of course you are. We all are, aren't we? You know yourself pretty well, and if you don't, start to get to! Being tired is one thing, but chronic fatigue is nothing to overlook. If you're tired all the time, forgetting things, overloading on caffeine, still run down after a good night's rest, pay attention! This could possibly be a sign that something needs looked into, like issues with your thyroid or some sort of imbalance.
If you have mild irregularity or occasional constipation, that's a part of life, uncomfortable as it may be. However, if you're working too hard to have a healthy bowel movement, have gone several days to a week without, or not producing enough movements, heed warning. Conditions like irritable bowel syndrome and chronic idiopathic constipation could become a topic of conversations with your doctor, along with potential lifestyle changes, including diet.
Let's get to the root of it. Thinning, breaking, or loss of hair speaks volumes, so listen up! You may just be experiencing the basics, like lack of vitamin D or B, or have some sort of hormonal imbalance. You may also be susceptible to thyroid issues or possible other autoimmune diseases. The best way to know is to see a specialist.
Keep Your Breasts In Check
Have you ever heard of Paget's disease? Not so unusual if you haven't. Basically, it's a rash on your nipple. But unlike most harmless rashes, Paget's could indicate there may be worse trouble ahead, like breast cancers or breast diseases. Keep on eye on your nipples for any redness or flakiness. as it occurs on one nipple specifically, and by all means, get to a doctor ASAP!
Hand It Over
Purple knuckles? Discoloration? Swelling? Let's talk about it. These symptoms are not in any way normal. Your underlying muscle tissues could be inflamed and declining in collagen, know as dermatomyositis. But more importantly, this could potentially link to worse conditions that are tied to related cancers. Consult your physician immediately.
Your Body Is Talking, Learn To Listen
Take note. If the above physical symptoms sound familiar to you in any way, simply pay attention. There is no need to panic, and certainly do not attempt to become your own online doctor by buying into more problems than you have already. Get to know your body, get to know yourself. Signals are warnings that are meant to be addressed and not ignored. The time, care, and efforts you take sooner than later, can help to keep you with a body worth listening to. You're worth it!
