As we get older, sleep is more and more important to our success at work, at home and everywhere in between. Not only sleep, but the routine you do first thing in the AM can affect your whole day.
There are a few very important things to get your up and running with the sun, and according to inc.com, here are some of the most vital things to boost your mind and body, before 8am.
Get A Good Nights Sleep
A goods nights sleep means seven plus hours. Getting a restful night not only leads to a productive morning, it is also linked to a longer life span, better creativity, increased memory, the ability to better focus, decrease in fat and increase in muscle, lower stress levels and a decrease in depression, just to name a few.
Pray Or Meditate
Go to a calm and quiet place the second you wake up. Think about a wonderful day ahead of you, be grateful for the air in your lungs, the roof over your head, the food in your belly. Pray for others that are not as fortunate. Wake up and take on the day in a good place.
Don't Even Think About Checking Your Phone
Unless your alarm is on your phone, there is zero need to look at it before 8am. Don't let other peoples problems become yours.
Write down your goals and visions for the day, as well as long term. Bring those ideas to the forefront of your consciousness. Be creative by writing down your thoughts and ideas, even if it is just one big jumble of dreams or half awake logic.
Get that blood flowing bright and early. Not only does it energize your body, it wake up your mind. Not only will you function better throughout the day, you will feel more confident as well.
Listen To Something Inspirational
Don't waste that precious time while exercising on top 40 hits. Learn, be a sponge and soak up knowledge. Learn a new language or simply listen to an audio book. You will be amazed how many books you "read" just from working out for 15 minutes in the morning.
Take A Cold Shower
Cold showers can be quite shocking if you aren't used to a jolt in the morning. They are incredible for your whole body though, and that includes benefits to your digestion, immunity, circulatory system and metabolism.
Consuming 30 grams of protein in the morning is ideal. And before you say that seems like too much, these are a few examples of what 30 grams of protein look like. The meat, eggs or nuts keep you full longer and keeps your blood sugar steady through out the day.
This entire list takes anywhere from an hour to an hour and a half, and can easily be done with an "early to bed, early to rise" mentality. A 6:30am wake up call may seem early, but trust me, your body and mind will thank you.
