Ever see knife blocks at the thrift store that are missing all the knives? Better snap it up, because you can upcycle it into an adorable craft supply holder for both kids and adults!
Paint It And Drill
This project from Thrift Diving is both inexpensive and easy to do. First, paint the block in your chosen color. Next, drill holes into the top of the block to make the perfect storage space for crayons. Be sure to drill slowly, so you don't chip the wood!
Attach a couple of metal two-hole straps to the sides of the block. This creates extra storage for brushes or scissors. You can get creative, and angle it when you drill it in, so the scissors will sit at an angle.
This project isn't just for kids! You can also create one for yourself to hold your home office supplies, such as rulers, scissors, and Post-It sticky tabs. Check out this cool office organizer from Such Is This.

It's Not Junk
Sometimes it's hard to imagine what you can do with a block of wood that no longer serves its original purpose. But, with a little bit of imagination, knife blocks can be transformed into awesome storage for crayons, paint brushes, threads, and whatever else you can think of!
