There's A Hidden Danger In Mom's Kitchen, And She Doesn't Even Know. Can You Spot It?
Microwaves have become a staple in the kitchen for over the last three decades, but its harmful effects are something you need to know.
It changed the way we cook food and eat food, as heating up leftovers on the weekends or cooking oatmeal before buzzing off to work has become the norm. But little did we know, microwaves can actually change us, and it's not for the better. Microwaves use non-ionizing radiation, which are high-frequency waves that heat our food. Some experts argue that while this type of radiation doesn't produce ionization as X-rays and CT scans do, they are still dangerous. Here's how using microwaves, as well as consuming microwave-cooked food, can be harmful to our health.
Studies show using the microwave can cause fatigue, as well as obesity. Researchers have found soaking in the damaging rays causes low levels of Natural Killer cells. Low levels of these cells are found in people with chronic fatigue syndrome.
When you cook food in the microwave, the rays that zap your food also quite literally zap the nutrients out of your food. Along with removing the nutrients, the microwave also takes out the flavor of the food.
The human body absorbs the microwave's radiation, resulting in the formation of cancer. This build up of radiation is caused over time and can translate into many kinds of cancers. Experts say to stand at least 15 feet away from a microwave when it's on to decrease you body's absorption of radiation.
An Antioxidant Killer
This is important because a shortage of antioxidants can lead to a host of maladies, including high levels of cholesterol and heart attacks. The microwave's radiation kills the antioxidant compounds in food, making it hard to reap the protective benefits of the nutrients.
If you suffer from insomnia, it could be from your microwave's radiation. Your body's ability to produce Melatonin (a sleep antioxidant) is also changed by exposure to microwave radiation.
Researchers have found exposure to microwaves causes subliminal stress, which wrecks havoc on your adrenal glands. When exposed to the microwave, your body produces high levels of cortisone and adrenaline which leads to adrenal exhaustion.
It Changes Your Blood
In a Swiss study, researchers observed eight people who ate microwaved milk and vegetables. They saw a decrease in red blood cells with an increase in white blood cells, along with an uptick in cholesterol levels after eating the microwaved food.
Here's a video detailing how harmful using the microwave really is.
Is it really worth it?
Although the microwave is a very convenient way to nuke your food, it may not be worth risking your health over. However, you be the judge...
