3 Necessary Steps To Take Before Trading In Your iPhone
Rachel Sebastian 7/26/2016
Are you ready to upgrade to a new, shiny iPhone in the near future? Perhaps you're looking forward to that new, larger screen. If the thrill of getting a new phone is urging you to ditch your old iPhone, you'll need to do a few things before replacing your old phone. If you don't know what they are yet, don't worry - we've got you covered.
Sync and Save Everything
This one is huge, especially as your phone stores your precious photos, videos, songs and messages. You'll of course still want to keep these and be able to access them on your new device, instead of losing them forever. Go ahead and back up everything on Cloud, as well as back up your photos and music in iTunes. Be sure you have the most up-to-date version of IOS as well as iTunes before you start syncing. You can keep everything safely stored on all of your devices, worry free.
Log Yourself Out
Before you say adios to your old phone, log out of every application! Now that you've backed up and synced everything of value, you're able to cut ties with it on your old phone. This ensures you're the only person to have access to your valuable applications. So, make sure you log out of your iTunes, Venmo, Facebook, email, Twitter, iCloud and Snapchat account. By doing so, you're protecting your identity and your money from being compromised.
Make sure your iTunes account is logged out by accessing the logout option from the 'Settings' menu. Then, go to the 'App and iTunes Stores,' and choose 'Apple ID.' You'll then have the option to sign out.
Wipe Your Phone Clean
Are you really ready to say goodbye to your phone? If the answer is yes, then we're ready to re-set your phone back to the factory settings. We must only do this after completing the above steps, as there is no going back after completing a secure erase.
If you're 100 percent sure you're ready to re-set, go to your phone's settings. In the settings tab, go to 'General,' then to 'Reset.' Then, hit 'Erase All Content and Settings.'
Make Way For Your New Phone
You know you're ready to upgrade your phone when you do the above tasks and backup, save, log out and securely erase your old phone. You're now ready to enjoy the benefits of your new, shiny iPhone. Be sure to save these instructions for your next phone upgrade, and make sure you're doing all you can to protect yourself!
