Cops Respond To Call Of A Home Intruder, What They Find Leaves Them Laughing Hysterically

When you are home alone, the worst thing is to suddenly be alerted by your dogs that there is a possible intruder in your house. The situation can be a scary one, and at times, extremely dangerous.
For one young man, after his dogs alerted him that there was someone lurking around upstairs--he was completely shocked to learn who the real culprit was...
An 18-year-old Sonoma, California man called 911 when his dogs began warning him that something was wrong. Scared that there was an intruder wandering about his home, he acted quickly and took his dogs to a safe hiding spot in his house. When the police arrived, they found the man hiding in his home, frightened, with his dogs beside him.
The police officers searched the inside and outside of the house, and the surrounding areas to see if someone tried to run away when they showed up. While they were doing their search on the outside of the home, they caught the 'intruder' right in the middle of his act. They let the man know they caught the 'culprit,' and the man went to go see who it was--he never would have ever suspected who they caught.
It was the man's Great Dane. He miscounted him when he was gathering his other dogs to hide in his safe spot. What's funny, is he had remembered his other pets, but for some reason forgot about his biggest dog.
The Great Dane has always been a curious rascal, and so went upstairs to stick his head out of the skylight in the roof. The smaller dogs started barking because they couldn't reach where he could. So when the man thought there was an intruder, it was just his biggest pet exploring the great outdoors!
Spencer Crum, of the Sonoma County Sheriff's Department shared:
"One of the deputies outside the house heard this scratching noise. He shined his light around the house and saw this dog sticking his head out a skylight on the roof. The deputy said - and I quote - ‘At that point we ditched all tactics and died laughing.'"
Can you imagine how funny that was to be looking for a robber, to suddenly look up and see this goofy dog caught red handed in the act? That must have been hilarious for the police officers to stumble upon.
Thankfully for the man, there ended up being no actual intruder. And, in the end, the police officers got a lighter call than they normally would get, that made them laugh pretty hard for once.
Intruders are a scary thing, and you should take all of the necessary precautions you can to safeguard you and your family from one. However, I guess another pointer would be to make sure your dogs are always accounted for, especially before you call 911.
