After Years Of Being Locked Away, Kate Middleton Dons One Of Princess Diana's Favorite Items

Not only was Princess Diana beloved for her easy-going nature and big smile, but her incredible sense of style was also a cause for attention. Her effortless, flawless look and amazing eye for signature pieces meant that she had one of the best wardrobes ever worn by a member of the Royal Family.
But one of Diana's favorite pieces wasn't something she hand-selected - it was a tiara passed down to her from Queen Elizabeth II....

According to the Daily Mail UK, Diana's favorite tiara, the Cambridge Lover's Knot, was originally designed for Queen Mary by the Royal jewellers Garrard in 1914. Queen Mary approached Garrard and asked them to create a tiara to fit the diamonds and pearls that had been in the family for ages - they happily agreed and the Lover's Knot tiara was born!
After Queen Elizabeth II passed the tiara down to Princess Diana, it quickly became one of her favorite pieces of jewelry. She wore it to official royal functions frequently, despite the fact it was extremely heavy and was said to give her headaches.
But after her untimely passing in 1997, the Lover's Knot was taken back to Buckingham Palace and placed under lock and key.
That was until Princess Diana's oldest son, William, married Kate Middleton and the tiara was passed down to her.

The Lover's Knot tiara was then passed down to Kate and, apparently, she seems fond of it as well! During the Buckingham Palace's annual Diplomatic Reception Kate donned the tiara and looked just as gorgeous as her late mother-in-law.
The Lover's Knot was actually inspired by a tiara of Queen Mary's grandmother, Princess Augusta of Hesse. She was married to the seventh son of King George III, the first Duke of Cambridge, all the way back in 1818 and a similar tiara was one of her most prized possessions.
Now Kate Middleton gets to wear the Cambridge Lover's Knot with pride.
