When actress Erin Moran died unexpectedly at the age of 56, fans were stunned. Since then, people everywhere have been mourning the sad loss of this well-known and deeply-loved television star.
It was on April 22, 2017 that the world lost the beloved actress - best known for her roles on "Happy Days" and "Joanie Loves Chachi." Her vibrant personality, bright smile, and lovable ways will be remembered always - by all who knew Erin personally, and by the television viewers who felt as though they did.
"Such sad sad news. RIP Erin. I'll always choose to remember you on our show making scenes better, getting laughs and lighting up tv screens."
Many of her fans were left baffled after learning the surprising news of this beloved actress' death. However, Erin's husband recently wrote a letter describing her final days on earth - a saddening statement which has become public, sharing the intimate details of Erin Moran's sudden passing.
"Erin and I met [on] April 22, 1993, and parted ways April, 22, 2017."
He then continued,
"We were planning to go to Thunder Over Louisville to celebrate. She was feeling fine on our anniversary 11-23-2016. Maybe four or five days after we got back Erin woke up and had about a dime size blood stain on her pillowcase."
Although understandably startled by the blood on her pillow, Erin believed that it must have come from her biting her tongue during the night. Sadly, this happy couple was completely unaware of the tragic fate that lie before them.
"A couple days go by and there's a bigger spot of blood. We get like 4 days into December, there's more blood. I get a flashlight and say let me look. It was not her tongue it was her tonsil on the left side."
At that point, Erin and her husband assumed the bleeding was a result of her having tonsillitis. So, they went in for a biopsy. The diagnosis that they were given was not what they were expecting. Steven shared,
"It came back squamous cell carcinoma. She started radiation and chemo. Five days a week radiation and chemo only on Thursdays. We did that the whole time. It got so bad so fast. By the middle of February, Erin could no longer speak or eat or drink."
Erin's recently detected cancer was spreading - and fast. And yet, despite her disheartening diagnosis and failing health - Steven explained that his wife remained "happy and active."
In the end, this beautiful, joyous soul lost her short battle with cancer,
"On the 21st she was having trouble breathing. She woke up on the 22nd, she was not 100%. She needed Kleenex, so I went to the store and came back. She was there watching T.V in bed. I laid down next to her held her right hand in my left. I fell asleep woke up about an hour later still holding her hand and she was gone, she was just gone.."
