Actress Kristen Bell Shares Brilliant Trick For Keeping Kids Safe, All It Takes Is 4 Words

Raising children is without-a-doubt one of the most rewarding, and most difficult, jobs there is. As parents, we "wear the hat" of a policeman, nurse, coach, house keeper, teacher, therapist, and nutritionist all within the very same 24 hour period - day after day, year after year.
So, when a mom "who gets it" shares a small piece of parenting advice, it's important we listen. After all, that "little" tip just may turn out to be life-changing...
One such mom is the talented actress Kristen Bell, who has two young daughters named Lincoln and Delta. In other words, she is no stranger to the difficult demands of parenthood.
She shared her thoughts on parenting advice with Today,
"I am a parent that actually loves to hear advice from other mothers. I don't care if your filter is judgmental or altruistic - I still want to hear it because it may be valuable to me."
Figuring out this mom-thing can undoubtedly be tricky, but Kristen believes that tapping into our children's curiosity and sparking their interest is the way to go.
She shared an example of this philosophy,
"For instance, it's summer here and I have to apply sunscreen every morning. They used to hate it, but now, first of all I let them see me put it on because I think they give me a lot more respect when they're mimicking what I'm doing."
Kristen went on to explain,
"And then I say, "OK, let's go put yours on!" I let them squeeze it out of the tube. I let them rub it all over their bodies. I say, "You tell me when it's my turn," and I let them take one minute to play with the fun, gooey liquid and then I get to rub it into their bodies. And that gets rid of the inevitable six-minute fight we have about standing still and putting on sunscreen."
Rather than arguing with her children, Kristen finds ways to make following directions enjoyable for her daughters.
In a recent Instagram post, she shared the way in which she keeps her little girls safe when they are out and about - using only four simple words...
Every parent knows how nerve-wracking it can be having kids around traffic - even mom and celebrity Kristen Bell. Especially in areas like parking lots, it can be scary having your kids around as you're trying to pack groceries into the car. After all, little ones don't always stand still!
Well here's a trick for you...
When out with her daughters, Kristen uses one simple phrase to ensure safety in busy parking lots and high-traffic areas. She explained in her Instagram post,
"The phrase we say as we jump out of the car. "Hands on the circle" (the circle is the gas cap) was invented by my brilliant sister in law, and has thus far kept all kiddos safe from any oncoming traffic while I unload the trunk."
Simply by telling her kids "hands on the circle," Kristen's kids stay right by her car near the trunk, which reduces her fear of them being in harm's way. Not to mention, they feel like they're playing a game!
This cute mommy method makes listening fun, ensures safety, and takes one small challenge off of our overflowing parenting plate - because not everything needs to be "a thing."
