Homeowner Discovers Peculiar Eggs In His Yard. Moments Later, Watches One Hatch In His Hand
by Marilyn Caylor 6/30/2017
Hawaii is a lush tropical paradise that is known around the world for its exotic plant and animal life. The islands are home to stark yet beautiful extremes - black basalt rocks, humid jungles, and snow-capped volcanoes. Even its eggs have been known to exude an aura of mystery and intrigue.
Wait, what? Eggs?!
Yep, eggs! One man on the island of Oahu was tending to his garden when he stumbled upon a clutch of miniature eggs. They had been "glued" to the inside of a hollowed-out bamboo log.
It was obvious these eggs didn't come from a bird.
Could it be the work of a bored DIY teenage prankster, who was armed with nothing but a hot glue gun and leftover bags of Cadbury's mini Easter eggs?
Or, perhaps mother nature had decided to play a little joke of her own, and was giving us a secret glimpse of her newest oddball creation - an animal that squirts Elmer's glue onto its eggs so they'll stick around!
Imgur user "maddabber" wanted to share this unique treasure, and posted photos of his unexpected find:
"Working in my garden when I found these."
That's when commenter's went wild with their "origin" conspiracy theories!
Should maddabber dare crack open one of the pea-sized eggs and find out what's inside? According to the cheeky comments left on the man's Imgur page, that could be quite a dangerous endeavor!
What if the mama velociraptor dinosaur from Jurassic Park had laid a clever trap, and was waiting for a meaty "snack" to walk by? Her soon-to-hatch little ones would be hungry, after all!
"If your garden is on the abandoned island theme park, the mother will be after you very soon."
Another Imugr user jokingly asked if the gardener's last name was Targaryen, a reference to the dragonlord family from HBO's popular Game of Thrones television series.
Someone else cautioned against touching the delicate pipsqueaks, since they still had a lot of growing up to do.
"Your dragons are too small mate."
However, it looks like those Alien face-hugger dinosaur dragons may already be "hatching" their takeover of the world, as a closer inspection of the log-bound eggs revealed that most of them had already cracked open.
Not one to be deterred, a very brave maddabber grabbed the few remaining eggs and gently held them in the palm of his hands.
He must have had the golden touch, because that's when one of them started to hatch. Uh oh! Startling thoughts probably entered his mind at that point.
What if they were the giant egg sacs of an unusually large black widow spider? What an interesting surprise that would be! Well, in a horrifying sort of way. At least right now it'd still be small enough to flick off his hand if it had sharp teeth!
Of course, when an adorable critter popped its scaly head out into the world, it was neither an extinct animal nor something from a scary movie.
But, you've probably seen his dad star in a popular American TV commercial!
So, what was growing inside the mysterious clutch of eggs? Teeny four-legged cuties! Even if you hate slimy reptiles, this newborn baby will still make you smile.
"He hatched in my hand Amazing! Baby Gecko!!!"
Awww, it's so cute! Thankfully, geckos don't imprint, so this man won't end up becoming its surrogate mother.
As an added bonus, the previously hatched geckos will likely stick around and help out in the garden. These shy, nocturnal creatures are actually natural born killers that love to eat bugs!
Wow, what an incredible discovery. Hopefully this lucky find qualifies him to save 15% or more on his Geico car insurance!
