Have you ever hurried to snap an awesome photo of your child or pet doing something absolutely adorable, only to receive that darn icon alerting you to the fact that you're almost out of storage space? It's so frustrating!
With these hacks, never again will you have to make the decision to delete something or miss a photo opp just to take another picture.
Clear it out -- Tech experts say one obvious thing to do is to delete unused and unnecessary apps. Scroll through and find the ones you haven't used for a while and uninstall them. Even apps that aren't used much still hog data and unnecessarily take up space on your phone.
Free up space -- Another idea is to delete old texts. Even though iMessage offers unlimited storage of old texts, considering shortening just how long you hang on to them. Go into your settings, select "messages" and change the settings to another option instead of "forever."
Pick a movie -- This next step will surprise you. Rent a movie, but don't actually buy it. Your iPhone's operating system automatically clears your cached data to make room for the rental that you're not going to buy. You can actually free up to three GB of space with this trick.
Photos in the cloud -- Consider using Google Photos to store all of your snapshots in a cloud, which also is online and free. Google Photos works on both Androids and iPhones. Go into Google photos and select "free up space." The app will automatically remove all photos automatically stored on the phone and save them online.
Just one copy -- Another idea is to stop using My Photo Stream. This function stores recently snapped photos twice on your phone. Unless you're syncing photos between Apple devices, you don't need it. Also, if your settings for photos and camera has "keep normal photos" checked, uncheck it. This HDR mode saves two versions of each photo and you only need one.
Wipe it clean -- Clearing your browser cache manually also will free up space. In your settings, select the browser you use, select "clear history and website data" and you'll find yourself with more room once it's done.
No updates -- Disabling automatic updates will help save space, save your battery and save on your data plan. Go into your settings for the iTunes and app store and turn off the updates option. Now you'll only receive updates when you're connected to WiFi.
